Dublin Zoo Set New Record!
This is a new record for Dublin Zoo and beats the previous record of 963,053 people set in 2010. Dublin Zoo is one of Ireland best known tourist attractions and has been open for 180 years.
Leo Oosterweghel, director of Dublin Zoo said, “We are absolutely thrilled with reaching 1 million visitors and we would like to thank all our friends and supporters, old and new, who helped us achieve this incredible milestone. I am delighted to be able to say for the second year in a row that the Zoo is more popular than ever before."
I was delighted to read this good news story, especially considering the amount of negative news stories we have seen of late. This story gives a great boost to all attractions in Ireland, most especially to similar attractions such as Fota Wildlife Park in Cork. Unfortunately I have not visited Dublin Zoo since I was a tiny tot but have visited Fota on a number of occasions and have really really enjoyed it, despite probably being a bit too old! The Zoo is fantastic place to visit for people of all ages and with this amount of people taking a trip I must be right!

Gas...! the Zoo is for people of all ages, this has really refreshed it in my mind!
ReplyDeleteYou are never too old for the Zoo or for Fota :)
ReplyDeleteYa agreed it is great to see such attractions doing well especially because it is located in Phoenix park which is such a great tourist location. Irish tourism needs this kind of positive publicity so it's great to see it doing well.
ReplyDelete6 months in Dublin and I never got there :( some day....
ReplyDeleteI have not been to the Zoo in years but it was always fun when I went. The best thing about it is that you dont have to be any paticular age to go and just look around and have fun. You are never to old for the Zoo.
ReplyDeleteShocked they get that many visitors! Wonder if its all tourists because I never really hear of any Irish people going?!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, nice to see a good news story for a change!
ReplyDeleteI went to the zoo the other day, there was only one dog in it, it was a shitzu.
ReplyDelete<3 dublin zoo
ReplyDeleteIts great to see such a wonderful attraction receiving the footfall it most certainly deserves. Its also a great example of the the kind of figures which Irish tourist attractions can potentially reach.
ReplyDeleteNah.... Never too old for the zoo! The last time I went I was reluctant as my previous memories did not portray the zoo as a very nice place, however upon visiting and since the remarkable new safari opened, the zoo is a fabulous day out and a really nice, tranquil place to spend time with either young ones or old ones like myself! Thumbs up from me anyway!
ReplyDeleteI think we should consider auctioning off the various animals to the highest bidder...would help reduce national debt big shtyle
ReplyDeleteI went there for my bday just gone believe it or not..... Ha sad I no but at the time my current condition sadly wouldn't allow for wild nights out...;) ! I wonder what number visitor I was....hmmmm:) it was one of the sunnier days of the summer so was amazing looking around....big thumbs up for their hilarious penguins as well!;)
ReplyDeleteThe baby rhino's so cute. I'm living in Dublin and haven't been there for years. Now that I've seen this I might just take a trip.
ReplyDeleteI actually went to Dublin Zoo last year, laugh and a half so it was! Had a picnic and the whole shebang. This is making me want to go again though. Good times haha :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear so many are enjoying/ thinking of going to the zoo! Think I shall be making a trip up there some day soon :) might wait till its a bit sunnier though!
