Personally I love social media, each of these platforms offers me a different way of connecting, communicating and interacting although this is from an individual perspective I am not sure would I be equally delighted if I were looking at it from the perspective of a business owner!
“Advertisers don’t want to miss out. They worry that if they don’t jump on the bandwagon and it becomes a Eurostar, they might look ridiculous,” says Christophe Cauvy, European head of digital and innovation at JWT and a long-time digital marketing practitioner.
I feel this is definitely the case, each and every company feel a pressure to keep up with the times and to continuously promote itself via ALL the various platforms.
Certain brands such as Starbucks, Ben & Jerrys and Coca Cola maximize and utilize social media to skyrocket their brands further although for other smaller companies it can be added pressure and can add hugely to their workload! However, I definitely feel it is worth the workload, companies get what they put in and whether they are looking to increase sales, brand recognition or simple to gain customer feedback social media is definitely the way to go.
What do you guys think? - Is social media the way forward for both large and small companies or should smaller firms be slower to jump on this bandwagon?

I think an active presence on any social media platform is key to brands who are trying to convey an image as a fun and relevant brand! Especially towards people under 30... Like i dont think I would follow or like an AIB banking page or twitter account but I would do for something adidas!
ReplyDeleteThat is very true Kev ... it really is dependent on the image they are trying to portray, although I guess there are many different people on Facebook and Twitter so maybe it just means that there is something there for everyone :)
ReplyDeleteSocial Media is the way forward I think all company's should jump on board before they are left behind!!
ReplyDeleteYa definitely think it's the way to go for companies looking to target the younger audience like Kev said! Give it a few years and older generations will be more up to date but suppose there will be a new phenomenon by then!
