The inauguration of Michael D Higgins as ninth President of Ireland.

If I am to start blogging on newsworthy news stories then what better way to start than to comment on todays biggest event, The inauguration of Michael D Higgins as ninth President of Ireland.

I don't know about you but I for one am delighted to see Michael D Higgins enter Áras an Uachtaráin today. After an extremely long and drawn out campaign I can say with no doubt in my mind that Michael D is the best candidate for the job, not that the competition was that great!

It must be amazing, hearing your name announced as the next President of Ireland. What a feeling. I know people always say that the President of Ireland doesn't really do anything but I don't think that is true, they are the face, the voice and the figure head of the country and they represent our fair Isle in many different countries gaining us friends and hopefully leading to some job creation!!  . . Fingers crossed on that front or next September I could be reading the RTE website from a very different perspective.

  1. Totally agree with you Sinead, definitely think he was the best out of the candidates to serve as our next President! He has big boots to fill after Mary McAleese's 14 years!
